Ocean Genome Legacy (OGL recommendations as of January 2024
For Freezer Tubes, we’ve had to pivot multiple times, particularly in the wake of COVID. Cryotubes were/are a big part of the COVID testing/vaccine pipeline, so many types became unavailable, etc. Currently, we use: Corning™ Externally Threaded Cryogenic Vials.
Under no circumstance would OGL recommend Nunc tubes. Even though they are externally threaded and have O rings, OGL regularly sees up to 25% of them leak in air transportation and lids regularly overtighten to the point of breaking/no longer being sealed.
